We are considering boundary changes that will impact Temple View and Ethel Boyes elementary schools in the 2018-19 school year. These boundary changes would benefit our students by making better use of our school buildings.

We are seeing increased pressure on Temple View, while Ethel Boyes is not being fully utilized.Ethel Boyes is a new school with space to accommodate additional students, as well as amenities like a large gymnasium, music room and specialized classrooms.

We are convening a group of Temple View and Ethel Boyes parents to help examine this issue and ultimately make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. If you would like to participate in this effort, and can attend all four meetings planned at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, Jan. 18, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, please contact Debbie Wilkie at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or (208) 525-7518.

We will work to ensure this group has equal representation from different neighborhoods. Participants will study current school boundary maps, enrollment numbers, identify potential concerns and troubleshoot options. The goal is for the group to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees at its Feb. 14 board meeting.

We will provide updates throughout the process. Parents who are not part of the official work group are welcome to attend those meetings and listen to the discussion as observers. Information will also be available on school and district websites. If you have questions, please contact your principal or the district office.

Our school works with two professors from Boise State University to lead the state in implementing STEM in our curriculum. We have applied for several STEM grants and hope to add more interactive student and families activities to Temple View.

Idaho School District 91 Focus

The district has three focus areas: Literacy, Numeracy and College and Career Readiness. Our goal is for students to gain mastery in the traditional core subjects of English, Math, Science and Social Studies. We also want them to learn the 21st Century skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity, which will enable them to become lifelong learners and good citizens.
